A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to sexual orientation and gender identity or expression |
|
|
with regards to the rights of the elderly. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 102.003(b), Human Resources Code, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 102.003. RIGHTS OF THE ELDERLY. (b) An elderly |
|
|
individual has the right to be treated with dignity and respect for |
|
|
the personal integrity of the individual, without regard to race, |
|
|
religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, marital status, |
|
|
[or] sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or source |
|
|
of payment. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
