HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Former state representative Carl H. Isett retired as |
|
a captain in the United States Navy Reserve on March 6, 2017, |
|
drawing to a close an exemplary career in the armed forces that |
|
spanned 26 years; and |
|
WHEREAS, Carl Isett was commissioned an officer in the U.S. |
|
Navy Reserve Supply Corps Program in April 1991, and he went on to |
|
graduate from the Basic Qualification Course at the Navy Supply |
|
Corps School in Athens, Georgia, in April 1993; his initial |
|
assignments included service as an executive officer for the |
|
Defense Distribution Depot Oakland Headquarters Unit in Lubbock and |
|
as officer in charge for detachments in Lubbock and Austin; and |
|
WHEREAS, Captain Isett gained extensive experience in |
|
theater logistics in Southeast Asia, through his participation in |
|
exercises in such locations as Thailand and Singapore; in his |
|
stateside assignments in the early 2000s, he served as commanding |
|
officer of distribution and supply centers in Denver and Oklahoma |
|
City, and in his role as commanding officer for Naval Supply |
|
Activity Bahrain, Detachment B, in San Antonio, he supported the |
|
navy's major logistical hub in the Persian Gulf; and |
|
WHEREAS, In 2006, Captain Isett was deployed with the Navy |
|
Customs Battalion QUEBEC to serve as executive officer overseeing |
|
nearly 400 sailors in Kuwait and Iraq; during his second active duty |
|
deployment, from June 2011 to March 2012, he led the Defense |
|
Logistics Agency Distribution in Kandahar, Afghanistan, the first |
|
and only facility of its kind to be located within an active theater |
|
of war; he subsequently completed additional duty in Denver and in |
|
San Diego, and he concluded his tenure by serving as the commanding |
|
officer of Navy Reserve Force Korea, Detachment F, in Fort Worth; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, This accomplished officer is the recipient of the |
|
Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Meritorious Service |
|
Medal with gold star, the Navy Commendation Medal with gold star, |
|
and the Navy Achievement Medal with gold star; and |
|
WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas Tech University, Captain Isett |
|
holds a bachelor of business administration degree with a double |
|
major in accounting and finance as well as a master's degree in |
|
finance; in addition to his service as a reserve officer and as the |
|
representative for House District 84 in the Texas Legislature from |
|
1997 to 2010, he has been employed as a certified public accountant |
|
and a consultant; and |
|
WHEREAS, Carl Isett's commitment to upholding the highest |
|
ideals of the U.S. military has earned him the respect and |
|
admiration of his fellow Texans, and he may indeed reflect with |
|
considerable pride on his outstanding efforts in behalf of his |
|
state and nation; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the 85th Legislature of the State of Texas |
|
hereby honor Carl H. Isett on the event of his retirement from the |
|
U.S. Navy Reserve and commend him for 26 years of distinguished |
|
military service; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Captain Isett as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives and Senate. |
