R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Cherished memories remain to comfort the loved ones
  of Betty Ann Peden of Hondo, who passed away on April 26, 2016, at
  the age of 75; and
         WHEREAS, A native of San Antonio, the former Ann Howard was
  born on February 10, 1941, to David and Minnie Howard; continuing a
  family tradition that reaches back four generations, she pursued a
  career as a pharmacist, and after moving to Hondo, she purchased
  Windrow Drug Store and operated it as Peden Rexall for some four
  decades alongside her husband, Robert Peden; she also went on to
  serve members of her profession as president of the Texas State
  Board of Pharmacy; and
         WHEREAS, Earlier in her life, Mrs. Peden worked as a
  substitute teacher at the high school and middle school levels; she
  had a lively interest in politics as well, having played an
  instrumental role in the formation of the Medina County Republican
  Party; she was a county chair for over 30 years and a longtime
  member of the Texas Republican County Chairman's Association, and
  she taught seminars all over the state on the responsibilities of a
  county chair and various aspects of election law; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Peden was also a highly regarded member of her
  community of faith at First Methodist Church, where she and her
  husband sang in the choir, and she was a member and officer of
  several organizations, among them the Hondo Garden Club and Sigma
  Tau Sorority; above all else, she was a loving wife to her husband
  of 54 years, a devoted mother to her sons, Scott and James, and a
  doting grandmother of four grandchildren, Ashley, Robert, David,
  and Ann; and
         WHEREAS, Admired for her intelligence, her civic engagement,
  and her kind and thoughtful nature, Ann Peden will be deeply missed,
  and she will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who
  were fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Betty Ann Peden and
  extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
  husband, Bob Peden; to her sons, Scott Peden and his wife, Kari, and
  James Peden and his wife, Kim; to her grandchildren, Ashley,
  Robert, David, and Ann Peden; to her sister, Rebecca Harris, and her
  husband, Frank; to her brother, David Lee Howard; and to her other
  relatives and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Betty Ann
  Peden.
