R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, David Carr is retiring as superintendent of the
  Stanton Independent School District on August 31, 2017, drawing to
  a close an outstanding tenure in that position that has spanned 15
  years; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of Monahans High School, Mr. Carr earned
  a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University and a master's degree
  in education from Wayland Baptist University; in the course of his
  three and a half decades as an educator, he has taught and coached
  in the Kermit and Floydada school districts and served as athletic
  director, head football coach, and principal in the Ralls district;
  moreover, he was principal of Stanton High School for two years
  before becoming superintendent of Stanton ISD; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Carr was named the 2015 Region 18 Superintendent
  of the Year in recognition of his tireless efforts to ensure the
  best possible instruction and resources for the pupils in his
  district; he has also been honored with the Mirabeau B. Lamar Award
  of Excellence and the Man of the Year Award from the Ralls Chamber
  of Commerce; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Carr enjoys the support of
  a loving family that includes his wife, Sheri Carr, and his two
  daughters, Heather and Traci Carr; and
         WHEREAS, Through his unwavering commitment to the students,
  faculty, and staff of Stanton ISD, David Carr has led the way in
  fostering a nurturing and challenging educational environment, and
  he may indeed reflect with pride on his exceptional record of
  achievement as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate David Carr on his retirement as
  superintendent of the Stanton Independent School District and
  extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Carr as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
