R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The death of Barbara Nesbitt Miller of Sugar Land on
  February 2, 2016, at the age of 68, brought a great loss to her
  family and to her many friends; and
         WHEREAS, Born to Trevanion and Marjorie Nesbitt on May 25,
  1947, in the nation's capital, the former Babs Nesbitt grew up in
  the Washington, D.C., suburbs; she graduated from Walter Johnson
  High School in Bethesda, Maryland, and went on to major in American
  studies at the University of Maryland, where she met her future
  husband, U.S. Navy officer D. F. "Rick" Miller; the couple married
  on June 15, 1968, and they became the parents of three sons, Scott,
  Beau, and Mark; in recent years, they welcomed three grandchildren
  into their cherished family; and
         WHEREAS, Military life took the Millers to many postings
  across the South before they settled in Texas in 2000; Mrs. Miller
  was very active in the Republican party, serving as president of the
  Spirit of Freedom Republican Women and as a delegate to the Texas
  Republican Convention and the 2012 Republican National Convention;
  moreover, she provided invaluable assistance to her husband in his
  successful campaign for a seat in the Texas House of
  Representatives; and
         WHEREAS, A woman of profound faith, Mrs. Miller was a staunch
  advocate for pro-life causes; she was dedicated to reinforcing the
  nation's Judeo-Christian roots and was a strong supporter of
  Israel; and
         WHEREAS, Although she is deeply missed, Babs Miller's example
  of civic engagement will forever remain a source of inspiration to
  all who were fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Barbara Nesbitt
  Miller and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn her passing;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Babs
  Miller.
