R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, School boards play a crucial role in meeting the
  diverse educational needs of the children in their districts, and
  the observance of School Board Recognition Month in January 2017
  provides a welcome opportunity to honor the trustees of the La Joya
  Independent School District; and
         WHEREAS, The mission of public schools throughout the state
  and nation is to empower children to become productive contributors
  to society in an ever-changing world; to that end, the La Joya ISD
  school board members partner closely with superintendent Dr. Alda
  T. Benavides, along with parents, teachers, and community leaders,
  to set policy that promotes a learning environment in which
  students across the district's 43 campuses have a chance to thrive;
  and
         WHEREAS, The dedicated individuals currently serving on the
  La Joya ISD Board of Trustees include president Oscar Salinas, vice
  president Armin Garza, secretary Claudia Ochoa, and members Juan
  Jose Peña, Juan Jose Garza, Johnn V. Alaniz, and Alejandro Cantu;
  and
         WHEREAS, Each of these notable Texans demonstrates a truly
  exemplary commitment to area students and brings a set of skills and
  a range of experience that contribute immeasurably to the
  successful operation of the district; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the La Joya Independent School District
  Board of Trustees on the occasion of School Board Recognition Month
  and extend to its members sincere appreciation for their
  outstanding service to the community; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the La Joya ISD Board of Trustees as an expression of
  high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
