R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Texas Association of Authors is a nonprofit
  organization dedicated to promoting literacy and supporting the
  work of Texas writers across the state and nation and around the
  world; and
         WHEREAS, Since 2011, the Austin-based organization has drawn
  upon the knowledge and expertise of a diverse group of established
  authors to help others find success in the field; its membership
  includes more than 250 writers whose books span over 60 different
  genres; and
         WHEREAS, By collaborating with Drop Everything and Read
  (DEAR) Texas and other groups, the Texas Association of Authors
  also supports the Super Readers program, an initiative aimed at
  encouraging children to read; last year, through the program, more
  than $10,000 in members' books were donated to schools, libraries,
  and other community partners; and
         WHEREAS, In carrying out its mission of "Bringing Texas
  Authors to the World," the Texas Association of Authors has
  provided a valuable service to countless members and readers
  through its workshops, educational events, and marketing
  opportunities, and it is indeed fitting to recognize this
  noteworthy organization; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the Texas Association of Authors and
  extend to its members sincere best wishes for continued success;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Texas Association of Authors as an expression of
  high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
