R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The National Association of Town Watch sponsors the |
|
well-known nationwide program National Night Out Against Crime; and |
|
WHEREAS, This notable annual event provides an opportunity |
|
for Texans to join forces with individuals in thousands of other |
|
towns and cities across the country to promote cooperative crime |
|
prevention efforts; and |
|
WHEREAS, Commemorated through neighborhood gatherings, |
|
cookouts, parades, flashlight walks, and other activities, |
|
National Night Out helps to build community cohesiveness, |
|
strengthen relations between residents and local police, and |
|
increase awareness of anticrime strategies, while sending a message |
|
of solidarity to would-be criminals; and |
|
WHEREAS, The importance of reducing crime, drug use, and |
|
violence cannot be overstated, and by taking part in National Night |
|
Out observances, Texans affirm their commitment to making their |
|
communities stronger and safer; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby recognize the 2017 National Night Out Against |
|
Crime as an essential crime prevention event and commend all those |
|
involved in this vital endeavor. |
