R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  death of Bob Marshall of Houston on November 3, 2016, at the age of
  95; and
         WHEREAS, Born on May 9, 1921, Mr. Marshall served during
  World War II as the executive officer of the 293rd Field Artillery
  Sound and Flash Battalion and as commander of Battery A; he saw
  heavy combat along the Brittany coast in France and earned the
  Meritorious Service Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the
  European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with Bronze Star,
  and the World War II Victory Medal; after the war, Mr. Marshall
  continued to serve in the army reserve; he was called back to active
  duty during the Korean War and the Cuban missile crisis, and he
  retired after 35 years at the rank of colonel; and
         WHEREAS, In civilian life, Mr. Marshall was an engineer and
  research and development manager with the Ethyl Corporation for 35
  years; in 1982, he began a 30-year tenure with the Meyerland
  Community Improvement Association, during which time he helped lead
  the effort to raise $500 million in funding for Project Brays Flood
  Control; moreover, he was a member of the Harris County Flood
  Control Task Force for over 30 years; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Marshall's extensive community involvement
  included leadership in the Meyerland Little League program, over
  four decades' service as an election judge, and 25 years' service as
  head usher at St. Thomas More Catholic Church; he held life
  membership in the Republican National Committee and charter
  membership in the National World War II Museum and the National
  Museum of the U.S. Army; and
         WHEREAS, A loving husband and father, Mr. Marshall was joined
  in matrimony to the former Edie Hammond from 1944 until her death in
  2001; the couple were blessed with five children, Jane Evans, Cille
  Crago, Kathy Card, Bobby Marshall, and the late Debbie Harris, as
  well as 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Bob Marshall dedicated his life to his family, his
  nation, and his community, and he leaves behind a record of service
  that will continue to inspire all those who knew and loved him; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Bob Marshall and
  extend heartfelt sympathy to his family and many friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bob
  Marshall.
