R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Wilton A. Lanning Jr. is being presented with a Waco
  Business League Lifetime Achievement Award on January 31, 2017; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 2009, this award recognizes
  individuals who embody exemplary values and who have made a
  substantial impact on the community through their generous service;
  and
         WHEREAS, A native of Waco, Mr. Lanning graduated from Baylor
  University and went on to serve as president and CEO of Padgitt's, a
  local institution that first opened in 1867; during his 40-year
  tenure, he transformed the business into a high-end electronics
  shop with a reputation for outstanding customer service; and
         WHEREAS, Deeply engaged in his community, Mr. Lanning has
  served as executive director of the Waco Business League for more
  than a decade; he is also the founding president of the Dr Pepper
  Museum and Free Enterprise Institute as well as a member of the Free
  Enterprise Committee; moreover, he has chaired the Greater Waco
  Chamber of Commerce and the Waco Convention & Visitors Bureau
  Advisory Board and has held numerous board memberships and
  leadership positions with other local financial, medical,
  educational, and cultural organizations; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan has garnered such impressive
  accolades as the Waco Junior Chamber of Commerce Distinguished
  Service Award and inclusion in the Rotary International District
  Hall of Fame; in all his endeavors, he enjoys the love and support
  of a fine family that includes his wife, LaNell, and his sons, Bill
  and Robert; and
         WHEREAS, Wilton Lanning has set an inspiring example of
  professional leadership and civic engagement, and he may indeed
  take great pride in his many accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Wilton A. Lanning Jr. on his
  receipt of the Waco Business League Lifetime Achievement Award and
  extend to him sincere appreciation for his many contributions to
  the Waco community; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Lanning as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
