R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Bellaire High School sophomore Jared Clark has
  qualified for a spot on Team USA in the draft-legal duathlon event
  at the ITU Multisport World Championships Festival, which is being
  held in Penticton, Canada, in August 2017; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Clark earned his chance to compete with Team USA
  for a world title after placing third in his age division at the
  Draft-Legal Sprint World Championship Qualifier that took place in
  New Orleans on November 6, 2016; and
         WHEREAS, The son of David and Lagenia Clark, Mr. Clark has
  distinguished himself as a rising star in the field of multisport
  racing, which includes running and biking; he has competed in more
  than 80 multisport contests, and he became one of the youngest
  people to ever complete a 70.3-mile half ironman-distance race in
  2013, when he finished the Oil Man Texas Triathlon at age 12; and
         WHEREAS, Adding extra motivation to his racing endeavors, the
  Clark family founded Justin's TRIumph, a group that raises
  awareness of a rare genetic disorder called Giant Axonal
  Neuropathy, with which both Mr. Clark's twin brother, Justin, as
  well as his younger sister, Lexi, have been diagnosed; together
  with over 90 other athletes, Mr. Clark has helped garner more than
  $337,000 for GAN research by participating in multisport events as
  members of Justin's TRIumph Reason2Race teams; and
         WHEREAS, This talented athlete has demonstrated tireless
  dedication and remarkable skill, and he may take justifiable pride
  in his achievements; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Jared Clark on qualifying for Team
  USA in the draft-legal duathlon event at the 2017 ITU Multisport
  World Championships Festival and extend to him sincere best wishes
  for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Clark as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
