R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and |
|
meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends |
|
of Oscar Garza of Mission, who passed away on December 22, 2016, at |
|
the age of 59; and |
|
WHEREAS, Oscar Garza was born to Hermenegildo and Concepción |
|
Garza on August 12, 1957, in Gilroy, California; the youngest of |
|
nine children, he spent his formative years in McFarland, |
|
California, working in the fields with his parents and siblings; |
|
his family moved to Texas when he was 15, and he attended Mission |
|
High School, where he was an accomplished athlete; throughout his |
|
time in school, he helped his father on the ranch, and during the |
|
summers, he worked as a longshoreman in Galveston; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Garza graduated in 1976 and went on to find |
|
success as a rancher and businessman; his company, Real Estate |
|
Investments, operated branches in Mission and McAllen, and he also |
|
owned the Cabrito Market in Palmview; active in his community, he |
|
served as president of the Hidalgo County Irrigation District No. 6 |
|
Board of Directors; and |
|
WHEREAS, Valuing his family above all else, Mr. Garza was a |
|
devoted husband to his wife of 34 years, Norie, and he took great |
|
pride in their four children, Carina, Aissa, Oscar, and Alyna, and |
|
their three grandsons, Josiah, Isai, and Cristian; in his spare |
|
time, Mr. Garza enjoyed visiting the Rio Grande, where he would |
|
watch the sun rise and reflect with gratitude on his many blessings; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Admired for his dedication to his family, his |
|
youthful spirit, and his strong work ethic, Oscar Garza treasured |
|
the richness that each day brought, and he will long be remembered |
|
with deep affection by all who had the good fortune to know him; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Oscar Garza and extend |
|
sincere condolences to his family and many friends; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Oscar |
|
Garza. |
