R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
  meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends
  of Oscar Garza of Mission, who passed away on December 22, 2016, at
  the age of 59; and
         WHEREAS, Oscar Garza was born to Hermenegildo and Concepción
  Garza on August 12, 1957, in Gilroy, California; the youngest of
  nine children, he spent his formative years in McFarland,
  California, working in the fields with his parents and siblings;
  his family moved to Texas when he was 15, and he attended Mission
  High School, where he was an accomplished athlete; throughout his
  time in school, he helped his father on the ranch, and during the
  summers, he worked as a longshoreman in Galveston; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Garza graduated in 1976 and went on to find
  success as a rancher and businessman; his company, Real Estate
  Investments, operated branches in Mission and McAllen, and he also
  owned the Cabrito Market in Palmview; active in his community, he
  served as president of the Hidalgo County Irrigation District No. 6
  Board of Directors; and
         WHEREAS, Valuing his family above all else, Mr. Garza was a
  devoted husband to his wife of 34 years, Norie, and he took great
  pride in their four children, Carina, Aissa, Oscar, and Alyna, and
  their three grandsons, Josiah, Isai, and Cristian; in his spare
  time, Mr. Garza enjoyed visiting the Rio Grande, where he would
  watch the sun rise and reflect with gratitude on his many blessings;
  and
         WHEREAS, Admired for his dedication to his family, his
  youthful spirit, and his strong work ethic, Oscar Garza treasured
  the richness that each day brought, and he will long be remembered
  with deep affection by all who had the good fortune to know him;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Oscar Garza and extend
  sincere condolences to his family and many friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Oscar
  Garza.
