R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Connie Garza was named the First Lady of Mission by |
|
the Progress Times and the Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce at |
|
the annual Citizens Awards banquet in October 2016; and |
|
WHEREAS, Each year, the Mission chamber and the Progress |
|
Times recognize outstanding citizens for their efforts to benefit |
|
the local community; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Garza has given generously of her time and |
|
talents to such worthy organizations as Mujeres Unidas, Texas |
|
Oncology, the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature, Calvary Baptist |
|
Church, and Our Lady of Guadalupe Church Hospitality Center; she |
|
has further served on the boards of Leadership Mission, the Mission |
|
Boys and Girls Club, and the Mission Consolidated Independent |
|
School District, and she is currently partnering with Tamar's |
|
Tapestry to create a shelter for victims of human trafficking; over |
|
the years, she has received numerous accolades, including a |
|
Hispanic of the Year Award and a Star Award from the Texas |
|
Corrections Association; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through her exceptional contributions, Connie Garza |
|
has helped make Mission an even better place in which to live and |
|
work, and she is indeed deserving of this notable honor; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Connie Garza on her selection as |
|
the 2016 First Lady of Mission by the Greater Mission Chamber of |
|
Commerce and the Progress Times and extend to her sincere best |
|
wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Garza as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
