R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Connie Garza was named the First Lady of Mission by
  the Progress Times and the Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce at
  the annual Citizens Awards banquet in October 2016; and
         WHEREAS, Each year, the Mission chamber and the Progress
  Times recognize outstanding citizens for their efforts to benefit
  the local community; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Garza has given generously of her time and
  talents to such worthy organizations as Mujeres Unidas, Texas
  Oncology, the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature, Calvary Baptist
  Church, and Our Lady of Guadalupe Church Hospitality Center; she
  has further served on the boards of Leadership Mission, the Mission
  Boys and Girls Club, and the Mission Consolidated Independent
  School District, and she is currently partnering with Tamar's
  Tapestry to create a shelter for victims of human trafficking; over
  the years, she has received numerous accolades, including a
  Hispanic of the Year Award and a Star Award from the Texas
  Corrections Association; and
         WHEREAS, Through her exceptional contributions, Connie Garza
  has helped make Mission an even better place in which to live and
  work, and she is indeed deserving of this notable honor; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Connie Garza on her selection as
  the 2016 First Lady of Mission by the Greater Mission Chamber of
  Commerce and the Progress Times and extend to her sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Garza as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
