R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, For more than a decade, Michael Conteh has helped to |
|
provide quality education and care for special needs children in |
|
the Greater Houston area through his work with Tangible Difference |
|
Learning Center; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Conteh founded TDLC in 2005 as an in-home |
|
community resource for Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy |
|
programs, and a few years later, its first clinic-based center |
|
opened its doors; today, it includes three locations, in Houston, |
|
Katy, and Sugar Land, offering ABA as well as speech and |
|
occupational therapy to children diagnosed with autism; |
|
recognizing that autism affects families of all races and |
|
socioeconomic levels, TDLC also features a medical billing |
|
department to help clients navigate their financial options, and in |
|
2012, Mr. Conteh established a foundation, Project Autism, to |
|
further support and assist families in need of additional |
|
autism-related services; and |
|
WHEREAS, Before starting TDLC, Mr. Conteh gained experience |
|
working with children and young adults with severe emotional and |
|
behavioral challenges as a staff member at a residential facility, |
|
and he has had the opportunity to apply his skills to the treatment |
|
of patients with autism spectrum disorders, as well as children |
|
with ADHD and Down syndrome; in his role as executive director, he |
|
takes pride in personally training his staff to ensure that clients |
|
receive the best therapy possible; and |
|
WHEREAS, Michael Conteh's outstanding leadership and |
|
commitment to his work have made a significant difference in the |
|
lives of many young Texans in Greater Houston, and it is indeed |
|
fitting that his noteworthy efforts be recognized; now, therefore, |
|
be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Michael Conteh for his service as founder |
|
and executive director of Tangible Difference Learning Center and |
|
extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Conteh as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
