H.R. No. 199

	R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Members of the League of Women Voters of Texas are
	gathering at the State Capitol on January 30-31, 2017, for the
	organization's Lobby Days event; and
	WHEREAS, Founded in San Antonio in 1919, the League of Women
	Voters of Texas was established as a means of educating newly
	enfranchised female voters across the state; since its inception,
	this nonpartisan, nonprofit organization has continued to provide
	up-to-date resources for voters, impact public policy through
	education and advocacy, and encourage citizens to be informed and
	active participants in the political system; and
	WHEREAS, During Texas Lobby Days, participants will meet with
	state legislators and hear from experts on some of the most critical
	issues facing Texas communities, including civil rights, health
	care for women, and education; and
	WHEREAS, For nearly a century, members of the League of Women
	Voters of Texas have worked tirelessly to promote meaningful civic
	engagement, and in so doing, they are helping strengthen the
	political process that is fundamental to a vibrant democracy; now,
	therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
	Legislature commemorate the League of Women Voters of Texas Lobby
	Days at the State Capitol and extend to all those in attendance
	sincere best wishes for a successful and productive event; and, be
	it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
	prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the
	Texas House of Representatives.
