R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Alex Napierski is celebrating his 100th birthday on
  February 5, 2017, to the delight of a large circle of admirers; and
         WHEREAS, The youngest child of Polish immigrants, Alex
  Napierski was born in Buffalo, New York, in 1917; he came of age
  during World War II, and because a perforated eardrum precluded
  military service, he contributed to the war effort by building
  aircraft for defense contractor Curtiss-Wright Corporation; while
  working there, he met the love of his life, Florence; they married
  after a long courtship and became the proud parents of three
  children, Elizabeth, Theresa, and Robert; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Napierski later joined Trico Windshield Wipers
  as a machine repairman; according to his supervisors and coworkers,
  he was unsurpassed in his skill, and he was employed by the company
  for four decades before his retirement; and
         WHEREAS, A true family man, he helped care for his mother
  after she suffered medical problems, and he devoted himself to the
  well-being of Robert, who was born with Down syndrome;
  Mr. Napierski also played a special role in the lives of his nephews
  and nieces, who adored him for his youthful enthusiasm and
  practical jokes; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Napierski was very involved at Robert's school,
  the Cantilician Center; while living in Buffalo, he was active in
  his church and various Catholic organizations, including the Holy
  Name Society and the St. Vincent de Paul Society; he and his wife
  shared a fulfilling marriage of 42 years, and after her passing in
  1982, Mr. Napierski became the sole caregiver for Robert; in 2015,
  he moved to Texas with his son to be closer to his daughter,
  Theresa; he is now surrounded by four generations of his treasured
  family; and
         WHEREAS, Sustained by his faith, Mr. Napierski continues to
  attend church weekly; he still loves to dance and sing the songs of
  his youth, and he attributes his longevity to clean living, a strong
  prayer life, and staying active; and
         WHEREAS, Alex Napierski has met life's challenges with
  resilience, optimism, and determination, and he holds a special
  place in the hearts of all who are fortunate enough to know him;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Alex Napierski on the occasion of
  his 100th birthday and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Napierski as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
