R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Joaquin Roman Rocha of the McAllen Independent |
|
|
School District was recognized for his outstanding performance in |
|
|
the Watermill Express/H-E-B Essay Writing Contest at a ceremony |
|
|
held on December 15, 2016; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Established in 2005, the writing contest is held |
|
|
each year in the Rio Grande Valley; the 2016 theme of "Healthy |
|
|
Habits" prompted students to reflect on the importance of making |
|
|
healthy choices and on ways to maintain those good habits for years |
|
|
to come; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A fourth grader at Hendricks Elementary School, |
|
|
Joaquin was one of 20 contest winners chosen from among the more |
|
|
than 1,000 participants from elementary schools in the McAllen, |
|
|
Hidalgo, and Valley View Independent School Districts; for his |
|
|
original and thought-provoking essay, he was awarded a laptop |
|
|
computer and a wireless printer; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By placing among the top students in the Watermill |
|
|
Express/H-E-B Essay Writing Contest, Joaquin Rocha has |
|
|
demonstrated great insight and ability, and he may indeed look |
|
|
forward to a future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Joaquin Roman Rocha on earning |
|
|
commendation in the Watermill Express/H-E-B Essay Writing Contest |
|
|
and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be |
|
|
it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Joaquin as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
