R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt at
  the untimely death of Magali Jimenez of Houston, who passed away on
  January 23, 2017, at the age of 19; and
         WHEREAS, Born in 1997, Ms. Jimenez was a senior at Wisdom
  High School, on track to graduate in May; a natural leader, she was
  active in the school's Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps
  program, attaining the highest possible enlisted rank, command
  sergeant major, in the Cadet Corps and receiving the Superior Cadet
  Award; she was also a member of the girls' soccer team, and she
  participated in the physical fitness team, the drill team, and the
  Color Guard; moreover, this outstanding young Texan performed more
  than 200 hours of volunteer service, including time spent working
  at a food bank and assisting autistic students; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Jimenez was first diagnosed with leukemia two
  years ago and suffered a recurrence in August 2016; during the
  course of her battle with the disease, she demonstrated a tenacious
  resolve that earned her the respect and admiration of the staff at
  Texas Children's Hospital and all those who stood with her; and
         WHEREAS, Although the loss of this bright and vibrant young
  woman brings immeasurable heartache, her loved ones may take some
  comfort in knowing that her friendship and the determination and
  strength with which she lived her life will not soon be forgotten;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Magali Jimenez and
  extend deepest condolences to the members of her family and her many
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Magali
  Jimenez.
