R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Texas Alliance of Information & Referral Systems |
|
is celebrating its 40th anniversary on November 14, 2017, and in |
|
February its members are visiting the Texas State Capitol; and |
|
WHEREAS, This statewide association enjoys a diverse |
|
membership that includes community nonprofits, military and |
|
veteran service organizations, aging and disability resource |
|
centers, crisis hotlines, libraries, and state agencies; and |
|
WHEREAS, Together, these dedicated groups seek to provide |
|
Texans with early intervention and support in times of crisis by |
|
simplifying access to health and human service providers; staffed |
|
by professionals with a comprehensive understanding of the services |
|
available in their communities, they empower individuals to make |
|
informed choices and take appropriate action through an emphasis on |
|
education, advocacy, and problem solving; and |
|
WHEREAS, Incorporated in 1977, TAIRS plays a vital role in |
|
ensuring that those individuals and organizations involved in the |
|
Texas information and referral sector uphold clear and consistent |
|
professional standards; it also administers certification |
|
examinations throughout the year and hosts an annual education and |
|
training conference, where workers learn how to better connect the |
|
public with the resources they need; and |
|
WHEREAS, The members of TAIRS work to affirm the dignity, |
|
self-worth, and independence of individuals across the Lone Star |
|
State, and they are indeed deserving of recognition on the occasion |
|
of this important milestone in the organization's history; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Texas |
|
Alliance of Information & Referral Systems and extend to its |
|
members sincere best wishes for an informative and enjoyable visit |
|
to Austin; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
