R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Student Leadership Magnolia ISD is contributing
  immeasurably to its Southeast Texas community by working to develop
  future civic leaders and volunteers; and
         WHEREAS, Overseen by the district's superintendent, Dr. Todd
  Stephens, and director of career and technical education,
  Dr. Matthew Clark, this important initiative provides
  opportunities for students to meet with elected officials and
  increase their knowledge of vital public issues; and
         WHEREAS, Up to 22 area high school juniors are selected to
  participate based on their leadership potential, scholastic
  record, and character; throughout the two-year program, these
  notable young Texans receive a comprehensive look at the
  governmental process while working together to complete a service
  project of benefit to the community; and
         WHEREAS, Through its efforts to encourage civic and political
  engagement in its participants, Student Leadership Magnolia ISD is
  helping lay the foundation for an informed and involved citizenry;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Student Leadership Magnolia ISD for its
  work to develop community leaders and extend to all those involved
  with the program sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
