R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Silvia Margarita Cuellar Lemus of Houston began an
  exciting new chapter of her life on September 21, 2016, when she
  became an American citizen; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Santa Ana, El Salvador, Ms. Cuellar
  earned her bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the
  Universidad de El Salvador and her teaching certification from the
  Universidad Catolica de Occidente; from 1993 to 2002, she worked as
  a laboratory technician, a laboratory supervisor, and a technical
  writer and editor; between 2002 and 2010, she taught math, science,
  and English as a second language at Colegio Las Mercedes in Santa
  Ana, and she also worked as a translator and a customer service
  operator; and
         WHEREAS, Since moving to the United States in 2010,
  Ms. Cuellar has worked as a translator, a bilingual receptionist
  and clerk, a customer service representative, and a campaign
  assistant for State Representative Gene Wu; she is currently
  employed as a project management assistant for Headworks
  International; and
         WHEREAS, A woman of strong Christian faith, Ms. Cuellar
  attends Lakewood Church, where she sings with the choir and has been
  active with the Feeding Families Outreach, Helping Hands, Pastoral
  Care, and Financial ministries, as well as with the Servolution
  team; she has also generously offered her services as an
  interpreter and translator for Barbara Jordan Endeavors, the
  Neighborhood Centers Immigration Forums, and Lakewood Church's
  Neighborhood Tax Center; and
         WHEREAS, Through hard work, skill, and determination,
  Ms. Cuellar has made a new life for herself and become a valued
  member of the Houston community, and she may indeed reflect with
  pride on all that she has accomplished as she swears her oath of
  allegiance to the United States; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Silvia Margarita Cuellar Lemus on
  becoming a naturalized American citizen and extend to her sincere
  best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Cuellar as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
