R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The tragic death of beloved teacher and coach Ryne |
|
Erickson on September 11, 2016, at the age of 30, brought a profound |
|
loss to his family, his friends, and his students and colleagues in |
|
the Dumas Independent School District; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Amarillo on November 9, 1985, Ryne Erickson |
|
was the son of Larry and Ruth Erickson; after graduating from |
|
Randall High School, he went on to earn a teaching degree in history |
|
from West Texas A&M University, and he was working on completing his |
|
master's degree online from Norwich University at the time of his |
|
passing; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Erickson served as head of the history |
|
department and assistant cross country coach for Dumas ISD, where |
|
he had been employed for nine years; he married a fellow teacher, |
|
the former Jamie Barnard, on June 28, 2014, and their relationship |
|
was a source of much happiness and fulfillment for him; and |
|
WHEREAS, A man who consistently practiced his faith, |
|
Mr. Erickson was kind, patient, and encouraging to all; in his |
|
leisure time, he enjoyed having conversations about history and |
|
politics, playing strategy games, and following his two favorite |
|
teams, the Chicago Bulls and the Chicago Cubs; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through the passion that he brought to his work and |
|
the warmth and optimism with which he lived, Ryne Erickson made an |
|
unforgettable impression on everyone who had the good fortune to |
|
know him, and they will forever hold him close in their hearts; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Ryne Erickson and |
|
extend deepest condolences to the members of his family: to his |
|
wife, Jamie Erickson; to his father, Larry Erickson, and his wife, |
|
Kittye; to his siblings, Landry and Lance Erickson and Carolyn Park |
|
Randall and her husband, Frank; to his mother-in-law, Janet |
|
Barnard; to his sister-in-law, Julie Tefertiller, and her husband, |
|
Dakota; to his grandparents, Jean Stevens, Irene Erickson, and |
|
Herbert Boyd and his wife, Mary; and to his other relatives and |
|
friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ryne |
|
Erickson. |
