R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The tragic death of beloved teacher and coach Ryne
  Erickson on September 11, 2016, at the age of 30, brought a profound
  loss to his family, his friends, and his students and colleagues in
  the Dumas Independent School District; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Amarillo on November 9, 1985, Ryne Erickson
  was the son of Larry and Ruth Erickson; after graduating from
  Randall High School, he went on to earn a teaching degree in history
  from West Texas A&M University, and he was working on completing his
  master's degree online from Norwich University at the time of his
  passing; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Erickson served as head of the history
  department and assistant cross country coach for Dumas ISD, where
  he had been employed for nine years; he married a fellow teacher,
  the former Jamie Barnard, on June 28, 2014, and their relationship
  was a source of much happiness and fulfillment for him; and
         WHEREAS, A man who consistently practiced his faith,
  Mr. Erickson was kind, patient, and encouraging to all; in his
  leisure time, he enjoyed having conversations about history and
  politics, playing strategy games, and following his two favorite
  teams, the Chicago Bulls and the Chicago Cubs; and
         WHEREAS, Through the passion that he brought to his work and
  the warmth and optimism with which he lived, Ryne Erickson made an
  unforgettable impression on everyone who had the good fortune to
  know him, and they will forever hold him close in their hearts; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Ryne Erickson and
  extend deepest condolences to the members of his family: to his
  wife, Jamie Erickson; to his father, Larry Erickson, and his wife,
  Kittye; to his siblings, Landry and Lance Erickson and Carolyn Park
  Randall and her husband, Frank; to his mother-in-law, Janet
  Barnard; to his sister-in-law, Julie Tefertiller, and her husband,
  Dakota; to his grandparents, Jean Stevens, Irene Erickson, and
  Herbert Boyd and his wife, Mary; and to his other relatives and
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ryne
  Erickson.
