R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The untimely death of Charles Winfred Roberts of
  Katy on January 13, 2017, at the age of 59, has brought a great loss
  to the family and many friends of this beloved gentleman; and
         WHEREAS, This compassionate Texan cared dearly for the
  animals that he was committed to rescuing, and his pets, which
  included six dogs and a horse, were like family to him; he devoted
  his life in retirement to volunteering with Rescued Pets Movement
  in the Heights, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing
  second chances to dogs and cats in need of homes; for over a year, he
  and his son Jared made the long trip to deliver dogs and cats
  scheduled for euthanasia from Houston to Colorado, where they might
  be adopted; Mr. Roberts was killed in an automobile accident while
  en route on one of these trips; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Dallas on May 29, 1957, Charles Roberts was
  the son of Charles and Helen Phillipo Roberts; a resident of the
  Katy area since 1993, he shared a fulfilling relationship with his
  cherished wife, Theresa Ann, and was the devoted father of four
  children, Shalia, Rhiannon, Brandon, and Jared; through the years,
  he took joy in welcoming into his family two grandchildren, Alexa
  and Maximus, and he was also a doting uncle and great-uncle; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Roberts radiated warmth and generosity, winning
  the affection of everyone that he encountered, and he was fond of
  sharing his knowledge of politics, the military, and Texas and
  world history; moreover, he enjoyed watching Dallas Cowboys games
  with his daughter Rhiannon, along with traveling, playing the
  guitar, fishing, snorkeling, stargazing, and a host of other
  eclectic hobbies; and
         WHEREAS, Charles Roberts was a source of strength and
  inspiration to all who had the pleasure of knowing him, and although
  his loss is difficult to bear, his loved ones may find comfort in
  remembering the wonderful times that they shared with him and the
  integrity and kindness with which he lived; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Charles Winfred
  Roberts and extend sincere condolences to all those who mourn his
  passing; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Charles
  Roberts.
