R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Larry Elizondo Sr. is being presented with an |
|
|
Outstanding Community Leader Award by LULAC Council No. 1 in Corpus |
|
|
Christi at the organization's 21st annual awards banquet on |
|
|
February 16, 2017; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A former member of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, |
|
|
Larry Elizondo has enjoyed a long and respected career with the |
|
|
CITGO Corpus Christi Refinery, where he currently serves as manager |
|
|
of corporate social responsibility, refining G&PA, and legislative |
|
|
affairs; over his years with the company, he has also held a number |
|
|
of supervisory positions; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Elizondo has demonstrated exceptional |
|
|
leadership ability in his community as well, serving his fellow |
|
|
citizens as president and vice president of the Corpus Christi |
|
|
Independent School District Board of Trustees and as the District 5 |
|
|
representative on the Corpus Christi City Council, an office he |
|
|
held for three terms; this esteemed public servant has chaired the |
|
|
Port Industries Government and Public Affairs Committee and sat on |
|
|
the Municipal Court Committee, the Administrative Committee, and |
|
|
the Government and Public Affairs Committee; moreover, he has given |
|
|
generously of his time and talents to myriad local organizations, |
|
|
including the Texas State Aquarium Board of Trustees, the United |
|
|
Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce, the Del Mar College Foundation, |
|
|
the USS Lexington Museum, and the Coastal Bend Blood Center; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The strength of our communities is enhanced by the |
|
|
devoted efforts of individuals such as Larry Elizondo, whose |
|
|
tireless work has contributed immeasurably to the quality of life |
|
|
in the Corpus Christi area and beyond; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Larry Elizondo Sr. on his receipt |
|
|
of an Outstanding Community Leader Award from LULAC Council No. 1 |
|
|
and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Elizondo as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
