R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. Amy Aldridge Sanford is being honored with a Y
  Women in Careers Award by the YWCA in Corpus Christi on March 1,
  2017; and
         WHEREAS, The Corpus Christi YWCA has been recognizing
  accomplished women in the community through this awards program
  since 1979; those chosen for the distinction have achieved a
  notable degree of success in their respective fields, and as women
  who demonstrate integrity, a willingness to take on new challenges,
  and a commitment to excellence, they serve as outstanding role
  models for young girls, whose empowerment is a crucial part of the
  YWCA mission; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Sanford has enjoyed a distinguished 12-year
  career in higher education as both a professor and an
  administrator; she is an eminent scholar in the areas of women in
  leadership, privilege and marginalization, and activism, and she
  currently works as associate vice president for academic affairs at
  Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi; a graduate of the HERS
  Institute, she serves on the board of Texas Women in Higher
  Education and has been recognized as a Corpus Christi Under 40
  honoree and an Outstanding Islander; and
         WHEREAS, Through the skill and determination she brings to
  all her efforts, Amy Aldridge Sanford has earned the esteem of her
  peers and made contributions to her community that will resonate
  far into the future; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Amy Aldridge Sanford on
  receiving a 2017 Y Women in Careers Award from the YWCA of Corpus
  Christi and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Sanford as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
