R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Sheriff Dennis D. Wilson of Limestone County was
  installed as president of the Sheriffs' Association of Texas in
  July 2016, and this is a fitting opportunity to celebrate his
  four-decade career in law enforcement; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Limestone County, Sheriff Wilson
  graduated from Groesbeck High School in 1973, attended Cisco Junior
  College and Navarro Junior College, and graduated from the Heart of
  Texas Council of Governments Police Academy in 1976; and
         WHEREAS, This veteran peace officer began his career with the
  Limestone County Sheriff's Department in 1975 as a deputy sheriff;
  over the years, he rose steadily through the ranks, eventually
  becoming a captain in the Criminal Investigations Division; from
  November 1999 to December 2000, he was an investigator for the
  district attorney's office, and he has been sheriff of Limestone
  County since January 1, 2001; and
         WHEREAS, A leader in his profession, Sheriff Wilson is a life
  member of the Texas Jail Association and the Sheriffs' Association
  of Texas and a member of the American Jail Association, the National
  Sheriffs' Association, and the Texas District and County Attorneys
  Association; he is licensed as a master peace officer, and in 2005,
  he received the Bert Ford Commendation from the Texas Alcoholic
  Beverage Commission; in 2013 he was appointed to the Texas
  Commission on Jail Standards by Governor Rick Perry, and in 2016 he
  was reappointed to the commission by Governor Greg Abbott; and
         WHEREAS, Sheriff Wilson is also a member and past president
  of the Groesbeck Lions Club, a member and past master of Groesbeck
  Masonic Lodge No. 354, and a member of the Centex Citizens Credit
  Union board; and
         WHEREAS, Sheriff Wilson's dedication to the highest
  standards of his profession has greatly benefited the citizens of
  Limestone County and earned the respect of law enforcement officers
  throughout the Lone Star State, and his knowledge and experience
  make him an ideal choice to lead the Sheriffs' Association of Texas;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Dennis Wilson on his installation
  as president of the Sheriffs' Association of Texas and extend to him
  sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Sheriff Wilson as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
