R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Alexandra Eilish Brazell has been named a 2016 |
|
|
Corpus Christi Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished |
|
|
Scholar in the achiever category; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished |
|
|
Scholars program was established to reward local students who have |
|
|
demonstrated excellence in specific areas of achievement; since its |
|
|
inception in 1988, hundreds of young men and women have been |
|
|
selected for this prestigious honor, and each of the 2016 winners |
|
|
received a $1,000 scholarship to help fund their college studies; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A senior at Veterans Memorial High School, |
|
|
Eilish Brazell has overcome numerous hardships on the path to |
|
|
attaining a 4.06 grade point average, which ranks her 11th in a |
|
|
class of 304 students; in addition to keeping up with a challenging |
|
|
curriculum that includes AP course work, she is a member of the |
|
|
student council as well as the National Honor Society; after |
|
|
graduation, she is considering majoring in English during college; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has pursued her goals |
|
|
with tremendous dedication, and she may take great pride in all that |
|
|
she has accomplished as she looks ahead to a future bright with |
|
|
promise; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Eilish Brazell on her selection as |
|
|
a 2016 Corpus Christi Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished |
|
|
Scholar and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Brazell as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
