R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Sabah Mukhtiar Mohammad has been named a 2016 Corpus |
|
|
Christi Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished Scholar in |
|
|
the achiever category; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished |
|
|
Scholars program was established to reward local students who have |
|
|
demonstrated excellence in specific areas of achievement; since its |
|
|
inception in 1988, hundreds of young men and women have been |
|
|
selected for this prestigious honor, and each of the 2016 winners |
|
|
received a $1,000 scholarship to help fund their college studies; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A senior at Collegiate High School, Ms. Mohammad has |
|
|
overcome many hardships on the road to success; she moved with her |
|
|
family to Corpus Christi from Pakistan when she was 11 years old, |
|
|
and during her high school years, she has worked part-time to help |
|
|
support the household while managing a challenging course load and |
|
|
maintaining a 3.91 grade point average; after graduation, she plans |
|
|
to earn a degree in sociology from Texas A&M University--Corpus |
|
|
Christi on her way to completing a Ph.D. in the field; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has pursued her goals |
|
|
with tremendous dedication, and she may take great pride in all that |
|
|
she has accomplished as she looks ahead to a future bright with |
|
|
promise; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Sabah Mukhtiar Mohammad on her |
|
|
selection as a 2016 Corpus Christi Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas |
|
|
Distinguished Scholar and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Mohammad as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
