R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Harvey Everheart retired as general manager of the |
|
Mesa Underground Water Conservation District on January 30, 2017, |
|
drawing to a close more than a quarter century of service to the |
|
people of Dawson County; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Texas Legislature authorized the Mesa UWCD in |
|
1989, and it was created the following year to protect the area's |
|
critical freshwater resources from contamination or nonbeneficial |
|
use; and |
|
WHEREAS, Throughout his exemplary 26-year tenure as the |
|
district's general manager, Mr. Everheart oversaw water-assessment |
|
studies, groundwater quality and quantity monitoring, wellhead |
|
protection efforts, and plugging of abandoned wells, as well as a |
|
range of public education initiatives; he also represented the |
|
district on the state level as an active member of the Texas |
|
Alliance of Groundwater Districts; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Everheart's commitment to the safety and |
|
security of the water supply has greatly benefited the people of |
|
Dawson County, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well |
|
spent as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Harvey Everheart on his retirement |
|
as general manager of the Mesa Underground Water Conservation |
|
District and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, |
|
be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Everheart as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
