R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Association of School Business |
|
Officials are gathering in Austin on February 28, 2017, to |
|
celebrate TASBO Day at the State Capitol; and |
|
WHEREAS, Founded in 1946, TASBO is an independent, nonprofit |
|
association that has served as an important resource for school |
|
finance and operations for more than seven decades; and |
|
WHEREAS, The organization annually presents more than 400 |
|
live, interactive, and recorded events to provide professional |
|
development for those who work in the areas of school business and |
|
operations; moreover, TASBO offers training for three levels of |
|
professional certification so that members and nonmembers alike can |
|
stay current on changing regulations and best practices in their |
|
field; and |
|
WHEREAS, In addition to creating learning opportunities for |
|
its professionals, TASBO advocates on behalf of Texas public |
|
schools; it currently has approximately 6,500 members, and the |
|
organization is ably led by Dr. Tracy Ginsburg, executive director, |
|
and Karen Smith, president of the board and assistant |
|
superintendent of business and finance at the Cypress-Fairbanks |
|
Independent School District; and |
|
WHEREAS, By coordinating efforts to seek effective solutions |
|
in the challenging arena of school finance, TASBO is dedicated to |
|
improving educational opportunities for more than five million |
|
young Texans in public schools, and it is indeed fitting that the |
|
group be honored for its efforts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby recognize February 28, 2017, as Texas |
|
Association of School Business Officials Day at the State Capitol |
|
and extend to the visiting delegation sincere best wishes for an |
|
informative and enjoyable stay in Austin. |
