R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Boys & Girls Clubs in the Lone Star State have made |
|
invaluable contributions to the success and overall well-being of |
|
countless young Texans and their families; and |
|
WHEREAS, Providing services to over 360,000 students in more |
|
than 180 communities in Texas, Boys & Girls Clubs seek to inspire |
|
all young people, especially those most in need of encouragement, |
|
to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and |
|
caring citizens; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through evidence-based youth initiatives, leaders |
|
in Texas Boys & Girls Clubs foster life skills, character and |
|
leadership development, and education and career advancement; they |
|
also offer a variety of programs focusing on sports, recreation, |
|
and the arts, which promote a better self-image and improved |
|
cultural and social awareness while instilling strong moral values; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, On February 26-28, 2017, the Texas Alliance of Boys & |
|
Girls Clubs is holding a summit for members of Boys & Girls Clubs |
|
throughout the state; the event culminates with the selection of |
|
the Texas Youth of the Year and the Texas Military Youth of the |
|
Year, who will then go on to represent the state at competitions in |
|
Washington, D.C.; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through the years, Boys & Girls Clubs have |
|
encouraged young people to aspire to the highest level of personal |
|
development and to become active and engaged members of their |
|
communities, and it is indeed a pleasure to recognize all those |
|
involved in these important organizations at this time; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Boys & Girls Clubs from across the Lone |
|
Star State for their service to Texas youth and commemorate the 2017 |
|
Texas Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs State Summit; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the Texas Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs as an |
|
expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
