R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Rushion McDonald is delivering the keynote address
  at the African American Legislative Summit Community Awards
  Breakfast in Austin on February 28, 2017, and his visit to the
  Capitol City provides an ideal opportunity to recognize his
  wide-ranging accomplishments in the entertainment industry; and
         WHEREAS, A Houston native, Mr. McDonald is best known as the
  impresario behind Steve Harvey's multimedia empire; they met on the
  Houston comedy scene in the mid-1980s and collaborated on the
  television series Me and the Boys before launching The Steve Harvey
  Morning Show; Mr. McDonald engineered the syndication of that show
  and was its executive producer, and he served in similar roles on a
  host of other Steve Harvey projects, among them the game show Family
  Feud, a TV movie, a documentary, a concert movie, a television talk
  show, and a number of feature films; moreover, he was cocreator and
  executive producer of the popular Neighborhood Awards extravaganza
  and civic engagement program, and he negotiated a number of major
  book deals; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. McDonald's many other television credits
  include The Jamie Foxx Show, The Arsenio Hall Show, Sister, Sister,
  and The Parent Hood; he is the CEO of consulting company 3815 Media,
  and his newest ventures include Money Making Conversations, a
  social media outreach that provides career, finance, and
  entrepreneurship advice; after developing a surprising sideline as
  an award-winning baker, he became a spokesperson for a cookware
  enterprise, Perfect Company; and
         WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous accolades, Mr. McDonald
  was inducted into the Personal Managers Hall of Fame, and his work
  has brought him two NAACP Image Awards and two Daytime Emmy Awards;
  in 2015, he was named a Distinguished Alumnus of the University of
  Houston, where he earned his bachelor's degree in mathematics; he
  and his wife, Cecily, established a scholarship at their alma mater
  for math and optometry students; in addition, he speaks at campus
  events, and he mentors high school students through the Disney
  Dreamers Academy; and
         WHEREAS, Rushion McDonald has inspired countless people as a
  role model in business and philanthropy, and it is a great pleasure
  to welcome him to Austin; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Rushion McDonald for his many achievements
  and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and
  happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. McDonald as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
