R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories
  of Jovita Abrego Canales of Santa Rosa, who passed away on January
  3, 2017, at the age of 77; and
         WHEREAS, One of nine siblings, the former Jovita Abrego was
  born to Nieves and Sofia Abrego on October 5, 1939; she was a
  lifelong resident of Santa Rosa and attended public school in
  Mercedes; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan found a loving life partner in
  her husband, Rodolfo Canales, with whom she enjoyed a rewarding
  marriage that spanned 45 years before his passing in 2010; she was a
  caring mother to their six children, Rodolfo, Timoteo, Ramiro,
  Moises, Saul, and Anita, and with the passing years, she had the
  great pleasure of welcoming into her family nine grandchildren,
  Daniel, Kassandra, Joseph, Alyssa, Jacob, Michael, Angel,
  Alexander, and Aneesa; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Canales enjoyed playing bingo and spending
  time with her family in Mercedes, and she delighted in life's simple
  pleasures, such as sitting on her porch, drinking coffee, and
  visiting her favorite restaurants; and
         WHEREAS, Known for her sage advice, her frank observations
  about life, and her devotion to her family and her faith, Jovita
  Canales possessed a generosity of spirit that expressed itself in
  myriad ways, and those who shared in her love and affection will
  forever hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Jovita Abrego
  Canales and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn her
  passing; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jovita
  Abrego Canales.
