R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |
|
of Jovita Abrego Canales of Santa Rosa, who passed away on January |
|
3, 2017, at the age of 77; and |
|
WHEREAS, One of nine siblings, the former Jovita Abrego was |
|
born to Nieves and Sofia Abrego on October 5, 1939; she was a |
|
lifelong resident of Santa Rosa and attended public school in |
|
Mercedes; and |
|
WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan found a loving life partner in |
|
her husband, Rodolfo Canales, with whom she enjoyed a rewarding |
|
marriage that spanned 45 years before his passing in 2010; she was a |
|
caring mother to their six children, Rodolfo, Timoteo, Ramiro, |
|
Moises, Saul, and Anita, and with the passing years, she had the |
|
great pleasure of welcoming into her family nine grandchildren, |
|
Daniel, Kassandra, Joseph, Alyssa, Jacob, Michael, Angel, |
|
Alexander, and Aneesa; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Canales enjoyed playing bingo and spending |
|
time with her family in Mercedes, and she delighted in life's simple |
|
pleasures, such as sitting on her porch, drinking coffee, and |
|
visiting her favorite restaurants; and |
|
WHEREAS, Known for her sage advice, her frank observations |
|
about life, and her devotion to her family and her faith, Jovita |
|
Canales possessed a generosity of spirit that expressed itself in |
|
myriad ways, and those who shared in her love and affection will |
|
forever hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Jovita Abrego |
|
Canales and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn her |
|
passing; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jovita |
|
Abrego Canales. |
