        |  | R E S O L U T I O N | 
      
        |  | WHEREAS, Members of the Association of Texas Professional | 
      
        |  | Educators are visiting Austin on March 6, 2017, to celebrate ATPE | 
      
        |  | Day at the State Capitol; and | 
      
        |  | WHEREAS, Owned and governed by its more than 100,000 members, | 
      
        |  | ATPE was founded to serve the needs of Texas teachers, | 
      
        |  | paraprofessionals, administrators, and public education employees; | 
      
        |  | it is the largest independent educators' association in the United | 
      
        |  | States; and | 
      
        |  | WHEREAS, ATPE works diligently to protect the rights of | 
      
        |  | educators across the state, striving to ensure that Texas schools | 
      
        |  | are among the best in the nation; the association also provides its | 
      
        |  | members with insurance coverage and legal support as well as | 
      
        |  | educational resources to assist them in preparing young Texans for | 
      
        |  | the challenges and opportunities of an increasingly complex world; | 
      
        |  | and | 
      
        |  | WHEREAS, Guided by the tenets established by the ATPE board | 
      
        |  | of directors, the association encourages its members to participate | 
      
        |  | in the political process and to serve as leaders in their | 
      
        |  | communities; and | 
      
        |  | WHEREAS, By engaging educators in the legislative process, | 
      
        |  | ATPE is working to improve our schools, and its efforts are making a | 
      
        |  | positive difference in the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it | 
      
        |  | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | 
      
        |  | Legislature hereby honor the members of the Association of Texas | 
      
        |  | Professional Educators on the occasion of their visit to the State | 
      
        |  | Capitol and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued | 
      
        |  | success in their important work; and, be it further | 
      
        |  | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | 
      
        |  | prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the | 
      
        |  | Texas House of Representatives. |
