R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of the Association of Texas Professional
  Educators are visiting Austin on March 6, 2017, to celebrate ATPE
  Day at the State Capitol; and
         WHEREAS, Owned and governed by its more than 100,000 members,
  ATPE was founded to serve the needs of Texas teachers,
  paraprofessionals, administrators, and public education employees;
  it is the largest independent educators' association in the United
  States; and
         WHEREAS, ATPE works diligently to protect the rights of
  educators across the state, striving to ensure that Texas schools
  are among the best in the nation; the association also provides its
  members with insurance coverage and legal support as well as
  educational resources to assist them in preparing young Texans for
  the challenges and opportunities of an increasingly complex world;
  and
         WHEREAS, Guided by the tenets established by the ATPE board
  of directors, the association encourages its members to participate
  in the political process and to serve as leaders in their
  communities; and
         WHEREAS, By engaging educators in the legislative process,
  ATPE is working to improve our schools, and its efforts are making a
  positive difference in the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the members of the Association of Texas
  Professional Educators on the occasion of their visit to the State
  Capitol and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued
  success in their important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
