R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Sandra Shaw, president and CEO of the Brazosport
  Area Chamber of Commerce, celebrated four decades of exemplary
  service to the chamber on January 13, 2017; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Shaw began her career with the Brazosport
  chamber in 1977, when she joined the organization as its
  bookkeeper; over the following years, she served successively as
  membership director, membership and finance director, and
  executive director before becoming the chamber's president and CEO
  in 1991; a graduate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for
  Organization Management, she has led the Brazosport chamber in
  garnering 43 State Awards of Excellence; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to serving on myriad chamber committees,
  Ms. Shaw has given generously of her time and talents to such worthy
  groups as the Texas Association of Business, the Shoreline Erosion
  Task Force, the Women's Health Care Conference Advisory Committee,
  and the Brazosport Business Roundtable; a valued resident of Lake
  Jackson, she has served the people in her community and beyond as
  president of the Gulf Coast Chamber Executives, and she has held two
  terms on the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives Board of
  Directors; other organizations to have benefited from her
  involvement include the Memorial Child Care Center, the Freeport
  Mainstreet Advisory Board, The Facts Unsung Heroes Selection
  Committee, and the Houston Sheltie Sanctuary; and
         WHEREAS, For her outstanding efforts in behalf of her fellow
  citizens, Ms. Shaw has been recognized by the American Society of
  Economic and Community Developers, and she received the Jane Long
  Pioneer Spirit Award from the Brazoria County Historical Museum in
  2008; in all her endeavors, she enjoys the support of a loving
  family that includes her husband of 34 years, Wayne, and their four
  sons and seven grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout her 40-year tenure with the Brazosport
  Area Chamber of Commerce, Sandra Shaw has made significant
  contributions to advancing the chamber's mission and played a key
  role in ensuring the vitality of Brazoria County, and she may take
  well-deserved pride in her exceptional record of achievement; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Sandra Shaw for her 40 years of service to
  the Brazosport Area Chamber of Commerce and extend to her sincere
  best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Shaw as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
