R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Friends and family are mourning the loss of Frances
  Kay Bragg Sykes, who passed away on March 12, 2016, at the age of 71;
  and
         WHEREAS, Born to Eldred Ray and Mary Frances Hudson Bragg on
  December 20, 1944, in Kaufman, the former Kay Bragg grew up in
  Dallas and graduated from Bryan Adams High School; she went on to
  earn a bachelor's degree in psychology from The University of Texas
  at Dallas and a master's degree in English literature from the
  University of Dallas; she enjoyed a successful career as a teacher
  and lecturer, instructing students in classic literature and
  Christian iconography; and
         WHEREAS, On October 19, 1980, this esteemed Texan married
  Steven Sykes, with whom she shared a rewarding union that spanned 35
  years; Mrs. Sykes was the devoted mother of four children,
  Christopher Jackson, Eric Sykes, Christopher Sykes, and Jennifer
  Griffin, and with the passing years, she had the pleasure of seeing
  her family grow to include four grandchildren, Alexandra, Jazz,
  Travis, and Madison; and
         WHEREAS, Sustained by a deep and abiding faith, Mrs. Sykes
  was an active congregant at St. John's Church in Dallas and gave
  generously of her time to assist the church's vestry and altar
  guild; her life was further enriched by her passion for music and
  art, and she possessed a gracious hospitality that could transform
  any gathering into a special occasion; and
         WHEREAS, Admired for her kindness, her strength of character,
  and her thoughtful intellect, Kay Sykes touched countless lives
  during her journey on this earth, and all those who were fortunate
  enough to know her will long remember her with deep affection; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Frances Kay Bragg
  Sykes and extend sincere condolences to her family and friends;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Kay Sykes.
