R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Longview native and Major League baseball player |
|
|
Chris Davis has set an inspiring example of philanthropy by making a |
|
|
generous donation to the Miracle League of East Texas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Davis is a graduate of Longview High School and |
|
|
a former member of the Texas Rangers baseball team; though he now |
|
|
lives in Maryland, where he plays for the Baltimore Orioles, his |
|
|
strong connection to his hometown led him to present the Miracle |
|
|
League of East Texas with a $50,000 check; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This outstanding group seeks to provide children who |
|
|
have mental or physical disabilities with the opportunity to play |
|
|
baseball in an accessible and safe space; the money given by |
|
|
Mr. Davis will go toward the construction of a Miracle Field that |
|
|
will serve countless families in Longview and the surrounding area; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Chris Davis has made a meaningful difference in the |
|
|
lives of many East Texas residents, and it is truly a pleasure to |
|
|
honor him for his notable contribution; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend Chris Davis for his donation to the |
|
|
Miracle League of East Texas and extend to him sincere best wishes |
|
|
for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
|
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Davis as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
