R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, The City of Garland celebrated the opening of its |
|
|
newly updated city hall, the William E. Dollar Municipal Building, |
|
|
on March 3, 2017; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Named in honor of former city manager William E. |
|
|
Dollar, who retired in 2015 after more than four decades of service |
|
|
to the community, the facility features a modern exterior and new |
|
|
restrooms and elevators and is equipped with an expanded government |
|
|
access television studio and state-of-the-art technology upgrades |
|
|
for the city council's official chamber and work session room; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Renovation of the city hall building is part of a |
|
|
major downtown revitalization effort that has also added new |
|
|
parking structures, apartments, offices, and retail space to the |
|
|
city's center; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The William E. Dollar Municipal Building |
|
|
constitutes a significant resource for the citizens of Garland, and |
|
|
it is a pleasure to join in recognizing the vision, leadership, and |
|
|
hard work that have helped bring this project to fruition; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the opening of the William E. Dollar |
|
|
Municipal Building and extend sincere best wishes to all those |
|
|
associated with this endeavor; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the City of Garland as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
