R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Nueces County Community Services held its 29th
  Annual Valentine Queen Coronation and Dance on February 14, 2017;
  and
         WHEREAS, Under the leadership of director Edward Herrera and
  assistant director Marcy Santos, this vital organization operates
  community centers in Robstown, Agua Dulce, Banquete, Bishop, and
  Driscoll; there, senior citizens can receive nutritious meals and
  health screenings and take part in a variety of educational and
  nutritional presentations and fun social activities, including
  bingo, crafts, exercise classes, and shopping trips; moreover, each
  year the agency puts on a Valentine's Day dance, where a highly
  respected woman from each of the community centers is awarded the
  title of Valentine Queen; and
         WHEREAS, The five Valentine Queens honored at the 2017 dance
  were Elena Lopez of Agua Dulce, Aurora Perez of Banquete, Bernadina
  Ramos of Robstown, Diana Briones of Driscoll, and Eva Romero of
  Bishop; accompanied by their escorts, these notable women took part
  in the grand march before being officially crowned by county
  commissioners John Marez of Precinct No. 3 and Joe A. Gonzalez of
  Precinct No. 2; following the coronation ceremony, attendees
  enjoyed a variety of refreshments and showed off their moves on the
  dance floor; and
         WHEREAS, Nueces County Community Services provides important
  opportunities for the local senior population to stay active and
  engaged and to meet new people, and it is indeed deserving of
  special recognition for its contributions to the quality of life
  for area citizens; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 29th Annual Valentine Queen
  Coronation and Dance hosted by Nueces County Community Services and
  extend to all those associated with the organization sincere best
  wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Nueces County Community Services as an expression of
  high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
