R E S O L U T I O N

|
|
WHEREAS, Caroline Carothers is making a positive difference |
|
|
in the Lone Star State through her role as Miss Texas 2016; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Having previously earned the title of Miss Plano, |
|
|
Caroline Carothers competed in the Miss Texas pageant in Richardson |
|
|
on July 2, 2016, winning the talent portion of the contest with her |
|
|
baton twirling and securing the Miss Texas crown; she went on to |
|
|
represent her home state at the Miss America pageant in Atlantic |
|
|
City, where she placed among the top seven finalists; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In the course of her reign, Ms. Carothers is making |
|
|
many public appearances to speak about her personal platform, "With |
|
|
+ Math = I Can," and she has entered into a partnership with Amazon |
|
|
Learning in an effort to encourage Texas youth to embrace math and |
|
|
education; she also serves as a representative of the Children's |
|
|
Miracle Network and works with a number of agencies that provide |
|
|
vital services for children, families, veterans, the elderly, and |
|
|
the homeless; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A Golden Girl feature baton twirler at Baylor |
|
|
University, Ms. Carothers will return to Baylor at the end of her |
|
|
12-month speaking tour to complete her degree in secondary math |
|
|
education; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Caroline Carothers has demonstrated commendable |
|
|
dedication and perseverance in the pursuit of her goals, and she may |
|
|
indeed reflect with pride on her accomplishments as she looks |
|
|
forward to a future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor Caroline Carothers for the contributions |
|
|
she has made to her community as Miss Texas 2016 and extend to her |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Carothers as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
