R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, For 80 years, Resurrection Catholic School has
  provided high-quality education to students in Houston's Denver
  Harbor area and beyond; and
         WHEREAS, The school was originally staffed by four sisters of
  St. Mary of Namur, who came from Fort Worth to organize the
  undertaking; its first building, a six-room facility, was blessed
  and dedicated by Bishop C. E. Byrne on September 12, 1937, and
  classes began the following day; as the local population grew, so
  did the school's enrollment, and as a result, a new building was
  constructed in 1962; and
         WHEREAS, Today, RCS offers a faith-based learning
  environment for prekindergarten through eighth-grade students, and
  it employs a curriculum that includes religion, language arts,
  mathematics, science, and social studies, as well as art, computer
  technology, physical education, and use of the library; and
         WHEREAS, Over the past eight decades, Resurrection Catholic
  School has equipped a number of young Texans with a strong
  educational foundation, and it is indeed fitting that the school be
  recognized at this point in its rich history; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 80th anniversary of
  Resurrection Catholic School and extend to all those associated
  with the institution sincere best wishes for continued success;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
