R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps
  program at Flour Bluff High School in Corpus Christi has built a
  notable record of success over more than two decades; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to winning 21 consecutive and 22 overall
  state titles, this exemplary unit has continually bested opponents
  at the annual NJROTC Nationals competition; there, it has captured
  11 championship crowns, as well as 9 unarmed drill team, 7 armed
  drill team, and 5 academic trophies; moreover, the squad has
  notched 14 titles at the National High School Drill Team
  Championships; and
         WHEREAS, Since its activation in 1993, when it was selected
  as the best new NJROTC program, the unit at Flour Bluff has
  benefited from the able direction of Commander Armando Solis; this
  Brownsville native and 22-year navy veteran graduated magna cum
  laude from St. Edward's University and earned a master's degree
  with distinction from the Naval Postgraduate School; during the
  course of his tenure at Flour Bluff, he has inspired countless
  student-cadets and helped them to develop such important qualities
  and abilities as confidence, self-discipline, and leadership
  skills; and
         WHEREAS, The Flour Bluff High NJROTC program has established
  a reputation for excellence at the local, state, and national
  levels, and it is indeed a pleasure to honor all who have served
  among its ranks; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend the Flour Bluff High School Navy Junior
  Reserve Officers Training Corps on its numerous achievements and
  extend to all those associated with the squad sincere best wishes
  for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the unit as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
