R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Raymond F. Bader retired from the El Paso County
  office of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service on February 28,
  2017, drawing to a close two decades of exemplary service to The
  Texas A&M University System; and
         WHEREAS, After graduating with a bachelor's degree in
  agriculture and a master's degree in horticulture from the
  University of the Philippines Los Baños, Ray Bader earned his Ph.D.
  in plant breeding from TAMU; he went on to work as an applied
  research manager at the Ayala Agricultural Development Corporation
  in the Philippines, as a researcher and assistant professor at
  UPLB, and as program coordinator for the Kearney Agricultural
  Research and Extension Center at the University of California,
  Davis, and in 1997, he became a natural resources agent at the El
  Paso County office of the TAMU Texas Cooperative Extension; and
         WHEREAS, In 2006, Dr. Bader was named director of the El Paso
  County office of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service; he went
  on to work for two years as District 6 administrator at the Fort
  Stockton Extension office before returning to his previous post in
  2015; in that position, he has ably overseen human and fiscal
  resource development and management, program development and
  direction, strategic planning, and various other duties; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Bader has greatly benefited his industry
  through his service as president of the Crop Science Society of the
  Philippines and as a member of the boards of the Asian Crop Science
  Association, the Federation of Crop Science Societies of the
  Philippines, the West Texas Urban Forestry Council, and the
  Southwest Turfgrass Association; highly esteemed in his field, he
  has earned a host of professional accolades, including the 2016
  Atenean of the Year Award from Ateneo de Zamboanga University, a
  2005 Vice Chancellor's Award in Excellence from Texas A&M AgriLife,
  and a 2005 Superior Service Award from the TAMU Texas Cooperative
  Extension; and
         WHEREAS, Through his dedication, professionalism, and
  commitment to excellence, Ray Bader has made vital contributions to
  advancing the mission of the El Paso County Extension office, and he
  may take justifiable pride in his exceptional record of
  achievement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Raymond F. Bader on his retirement
  as director of the El Paso County office of the Texas A&M AgriLife
  Extension Service and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness and fulfillment; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Bader as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
