R E S O L U T I O N

|
|
WHEREAS, Junior Achievement of Brazoria County has been |
|
|
recognized for its outstanding work during the 2015-2016 fiscal |
|
|
year with the Peak Performance Team Award and the Five Star Award |
|
|
from Junior Achievement USA; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Peak Performance Team and Five Star Awards |
|
|
celebrate the staff and boards of local Junior Achievement groups |
|
|
that have improved student outcomes while sustaining their own |
|
|
financial strength; to earn the Five Star Award, the organization |
|
|
must also meet Junior Achievement's national standards of |
|
|
operational efficiency and effectively represent its brand; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A fitting recipient of these prestigious accolades, |
|
|
Junior Achievement of Brazoria County is dedicated to equipping |
|
|
students in pre-K through 12th grade with the knowledge and skills |
|
|
necessary to become productive and successful members of society; |
|
|
to that end, it offers training in a variety of areas, including |
|
|
basic money management, global economics, career investigation, |
|
|
job skills, leadership, and ethics; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Partnering with more than 300 classroom volunteers |
|
|
and corporate sponsors during the 2015-2016 academic year, the |
|
|
organization reached 8,022 students in eight school districts and |
|
|
private schools across the county, increasing the number of |
|
|
students served by nearly 22 percent; in addition, it achieved |
|
|
42,480 local contact hours, an increase of more than 19 percent; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By empowering local youth to plan their future, take |
|
|
charge of their success, and make smart academic and financial |
|
|
choices, Junior Achievement of Brazoria County is helping those |
|
|
students prepare for the challenges and opportunities of adulthood, |
|
|
and in so doing, it is also helping to advance the prosperity and |
|
|
vitality of their communities; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Junior Achievement of Brazoria |
|
|
County on its receipt of the Peak Performance Team and Five Star |
|
|
Awards and extend to all those associated with the organization |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success in their important work; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Junior Achievement of Brazoria County as an expression |
|
|
of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
