R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will long treasure their memories
  of Joy Bownds Weiner of Angleton, who passed away on May 17, 2016,
  at the age of 65; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Houston on January 29, 1951, the former Joy
  Bownds was the daughter of Dr. Charles P. Bownds and Joyce Forbes
  Bownds; in 1997, she exchanged wedding vows with the love of her
  life, James Michael Weiner, with whom she shared two fulfilling
  decades of marriage; she was the proud mother of three children,
  Clinton, Brent, and Adam, and with the passing years, she took joy
  in watching her family grow to include four grandchildren, Brianne,
  Charlotte, Phoenix, and Joaquin; and
         WHEREAS, Deeply committed to civic engagement, Ms. Weiner
  was an active member of the Republican Party; she volunteered with
  the Angleton Republican Women for 10 years, during which time she
  served as president and vice president of membership and took a
  leading role in recruiting new Republicans into the group; along
  the way, she tirelessly supported Republican candidates for office
  through block walking, phone banking, and participating in
  fund-raisers, as well as by volunteering for such events as the
  Brazoria County Lincoln-Reagan Day Dinner; she was the 2014 ARW
  Tribute to Women honoree at the Texas State Republican Convention,
  and she also served as an advisor in the establishment of the
  Brazoria County Young Republicans; and
         WHEREAS, A woman who cherished her faith, Ms. Weiner was
  affiliated with The Way International, a nondenominational
  ministry; she counted among her favorite activities shopping,
  traveling, and, most of all, spending time with her family and
  friends; and
         WHEREAS, Passionate, spirited, and unwavering in her
  dedication to the principles she held dear, Joy Weiner leaves
  behind a legacy that will continue to live on in the hearts of those
  who were fortunate enough to share in the richness of her life; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Joy Bownds Weiner
  and extend sincere sympathy to all who mourn her passing; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Joy Weiner.
