R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Flour Bluff Independent School District in
  Corpus Christi enjoyed an outstanding record of success during the
  2015-2016 school year; and
         WHEREAS, Furthering its reputation for excellence, the
  district earned a superior rating for its financial management from
  the Texas Education Agency; in addition, Catherine Graham, of Flour
  Bluff Intermediate School, was named Elementary Teacher of the Year
  for ESC Region 2, and James McMinn, head coach of the Flour Bluff
  High School girls' basketball team, was named Basketball Coach of
  the Year for Region 30-5A; and
         WHEREAS, Numerous Flour Bluff students received accolades
  for individual and team achievement; among their number were 2
  National Hispanic Scholars and 5 National Merit Commended Scholars,
  as well as 12 AP Scholars, an AP Scholar with Honors, and 2 AP
  Scholars with Distinction; students from the district also excelled
  in a variety of academic competitions, including meets sponsored by
  the University Interscholastic League and the Texas Math and
  Science Coaches Association; and
         WHEREAS, The school year additionally saw many students
  distinguish themselves through the performing arts; ensembles from
  both Flour Bluff Junior High and Flour Bluff High School received
  Division I ratings at the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest,
  and the FBHS Hornet Marching Band earned a superior rating at the
  UIL Region Marching Band Contest and advanced to area competition;
  moreover, a host of musicians garnered medals at the UIL Region and
  State Solo and Ensemble Contests and earned placement in Texas
  Music Educators Association All-Region, All-District, and
  All-State ensembles; and
         WHEREAS, Flour Bluff student-athletes effectively
  represented the district as well; the high school volleyball, team
  tennis, baseball, softball, and girls' basketball squads each won
  district and area championships, while the boys' basketball, girls'
  swimming, and boys' and girls' soccer and spring tennis teams
  clinched district titles; moreover, the junior high volleyball,
  football, girls' track, and boys' and girls' swimming and basketball
  teams captured district trophies; and
         WHEREAS, The faculty, staff, and administration of the Flour
  Bluff Independent School District have demonstrated an exceptional
  commitment to helping young Texans build a strong foundation for
  the future, and their efforts have been reflected in the many
  significant achievements of the district's students; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend the Flour Bluff Independent School
  District on its numerous accomplishments during the 2015-2016
  school year and extend to all those associated with the district
  sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the district as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
