R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, In recognition of her military service during World
  War II, Alice Porter is being presented with a Women in History
  award by the Corpus Christi Chapter of the National Society
  Daughters of the American Revolution on March 24, 2017; and
         WHEREAS, A native of New Jersey, Alice Porter joined the navy
  as part of the Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service
  program in 1945; she was assigned to Naval Air Station Atlanta,
  where she was trained as an instructor for a flight simulation
  device called a link trainer; she was later transferred to the base
  in Corpus Christi to teach pilots how to fly by instruments at night
  and in unfamiliar territory; and
         WHEREAS, Americans owe a debt of gratitude to those men and
  women who commit themselves to defending the nation's liberty and
  security, and Alice Porter may indeed take great pride in her
  outstanding service to her nation; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Alice Porter on her receipt of a
  Women in History award from the Corpus Christi Chapter of the
  National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and extend to
  her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Porter as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
